Q: I'm a subscriber, but the Thursday night emails aren't showing up in my inbox. Why?
A: As with many online subscriptions, the first piece of advice is to check your spam folder. If you find our emails there, be sure to mark them "not junk," or add paul@carmelpinecone.com to your email address book. Spam filters come and go, and their parameters are always being updated, so it's not unusual for our emails to make it to your regular inbox one week and be sent to spam the next. So that's the first thing to check.
If our emails aren't landing in your spam folder, you can verify that your subscription is still active by trying to sign up again. If you're already a subscriber, doing that will generate a message confirming it.
If all else fails, send an email to mail@carmelpinecone.com and we will figure out a way to help.
Q: What's the best way to view the PDF Pine Cone on an iPhone or iPad?
A: After downloading the edition you're interested in, touch the center of the image of the front page. Look for an "open in" link that appears, or a small square with an arrow pointing up. Click on that and choose iBooks or Acrobat to open the file. Once it opens, you can turn the pages of The Pine Cone just like an old-fashioned newspaper, and you can even save each week's edition for offline viewing, such as at the beach or on an airplane.
Q: How do I place an obituary in The Pine Cone?
A: The Pine Cone is widely regarded as the best place for to memorialize a loved one in the Monterey Peninsula, not only because our obituaries are beautifully and sensitively produced, but because they are so widely read. And we have very reasonable prices. For content guidlines and details about sizes and rates, please click here. To place an obit or other memorial or commemorative announcement, contact Anne Papineau at anne@carmelpinecone.com or (831) 274-8654.
