All three of the Peninsula’s elected representatives — Congressman Jimmy Panetta, State Senator John Laird and Assemblymember Dawn Addis — blamed President Donald Trump for the rioting in Los Angeles. Kelly Nix and Caitlin Conrad report.

A $37 million project at Rancho Cañada will give the Carmel River new room to flood. Chris Counts has the details.

The manager of a Pacific Grove restaurant has been detained by ICE and may be deported. Valet service is one option the Carmel City Council is considering to relieve parking congestion downtown. The council also approved a $40 million budget for next year.

Another lawsuit has been filed against the Carmel school district — this one alleging racism against a Black employee. Meanwhile, Carmel High School is expanding its tech education program, while Pacific Grove has decided to terminate its school resource officer program.

The board of supervisors extended safety measures at the Bixby Bridge, to help counter the impact of over tourism. A pedestrian was killed Tuesday near Rocky Creek. Mountain biking enthusiasts are asking for a bike trail and park at Laguna Seca. The Mayor of Monterey and members of that city’s council will get significant raises.

Cal Am will move its offices to Ryan Ranch. The Church of the Forest in Pebble Beach has a new pastor. Big Sur resident Al Jardine is paying tribute to fellow Beach Boy Brian Wilson. The P.G. art center will host its first “Extraterrestrial Ball.
