A bank at the mouth of the valley was robbed Monday. A motorcycle accident on Carmel Valley Road killed one rider and injured another Friday night.

A Cannery Row condo project is new construction and not a remodel, according to the coastal commission’s staff. Neighbors of a defunct resort in Carmel Valley say plans to revitalize the place will be too disruptive. A 35-unit hotel in downtown Carmel has closed for a major renovation. Ambitious plans are in the works for the Red Barn on Highway 1 outside Prunedale. Rep. Jimmy Panetta has proposed legislation to simplify 401(k) withdrawals.
